I’m a WRITER before anything else, and I busted my ASS on this Dipset piece for UGHH! I spoke to Funk Flex, Shiest Bub and more and went soooo in depth about the rise and fall of the dopest rap group of my era.

Plus I told some dope personal stories. Read it here or continue below!

None of these deserve their own posts soooo here’s stuff like me and G-Eazy at a Pink Dolphin party, me on the carpet for the CLAWS premiere, a party I hosted BET Weekend, me at DJ Khaled‘s listening session, a cool shout out from Funk Flex, me at the MTV Movie Awards, me and Amber and Rosenberg at a birthday party, Too $hort at REVOLT, me and Ty at 24‘s listening session, on the set of “What U Like” (which Zombz made a cameo in!) and me and Demetrius Shipp Jr. backstage at Powerhouse.

(Photos) Me Doing Misc. Cool Shit – November & December 2016

main

You know the drill – none of these things in the last two months really deserve their own post, but they’re pretty damn cool so I have to share.

Over at Hot 97, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Common, Noreaga, The LOX and the one-and-only Erykah Badu rolled through. I also hit up Tyler The Creator‘s Camp Flog Gnaw in LA, went bowling with Ty Dolla $ign and 24Hrs, hung out at MGK‘s sold out NYC show and celebrated the launch of Jimmy Jazz‘s Timberland collab, the “Sesame Chicken” boot, with Laura Stylez, Bodega Bamz, Joell Ortiz and more.

TBT: How Funk Flex’s “Funkmaster Flex Night” Drop Actually Came From David Letterman

Rosie Perez x David Letterman x Funkmaster Flex night_LifeIsTremendez

For those of you who have grown up listening to Funk Flex every night on Hot 97 – and even those who haven’t – the infamous “Funkmaster Flex Night” drop that plays at the start of the show is one you can recognize anywhere. What many don’t know, however, is that it’s not just any old drop – it’s actually a sound clip from a 1993 episode of Late Night With David Letterman! And the funnier part? It was actually kind of a diss from Letterman!

That fall, actress Rosie Perez was sitting on Letterman‘s couch, discussing how she’d directed Lisette Melendez‘s “Goody Goody” music video, and how she cast the male lead after spotting him at one of Flex‘s parties.

(Video) Dip Set Hits Hot 97 To Freestyle + Announce Reunion Tour

Marisa Mendez x Dip Set 2015_LifeIsTremendez

It’s been so long overdue, but finally all members of the iconic Dip Set crew are on board for a REAL reunion, and an album is on the way. It will be warmed up first with a mixtape though, hosted by LIT Digital DJsFunk Flex, DJ Mustard, Swizz Beatz and DJ Khaled.

Stopping by Flex‘s show on Hot 97 last night, Cam’Ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey dropped off their new song “Have My Money,” while also spitting some bars off J. Cole‘s “Fire Squad” beat (for Lz and Jim) and “The Roc (Just Fire)” beat for Killa – which was a blast from the past, since that’s a Just Blaze beat from Cam‘s 2002 classic album, Come Home With Me.

The 15-city tour dates have not yet been announced, but the guys did reveal it will start with an NYC stop first at the Best Buy Theatre, and that they’ll also be at Flex‘s sneaker expo during All Star Weekend. The latter, however, is just to meet fans and sell Dip Set merch, NOT a performance.

Check out video from their Hot 97 visit below.
