Fetty Wap Is The First Artist To Have First 4 Singles In Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs Top 10

Fetty-Wap-MAIN

Our Jersey guy can do no wrong! Fetty Wap has long shed his “one hit wonder” predictions, and now has not one, not two, not three…but FOUR songs in the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot Rap Songs chart.

His longest-running hit is of course “Trap Queen,” which still sits comfortably at number 2. It’s followed by the Monty-assisted “My Way” at number 3, the Remy Boyz-assisted “679” at number 5, and is now joined by “Again,” entering the chart for its first week at number 8.

(Photos + Video) Summer Jam 2015 Recap: Performances, Gossip + More!

LifeIsTremendez_Hot 97 Summer Jam 2015 recap

Yesterday marked the 23rd annual Summer Jam concert from Hot 97, and another epic night for the record books! I was frazzled for a majority of the show because I signed up to work, and was assigned to handle all things Fetty Wap and Ty Dolla $ign…which sounded fun in theory, but DAMN it was a lot of work! Needless to say, I missed about 90% of things that happened – and that includes all that drama outside. My mother actually was texting me in a panic making sure I was okay, and I had to ask her what she was talking about because we were calmly sitting around sharing “deez nuts” jokes backstage at the time. LOL! It’s a shame a few bad apples attempted to spoil the whole bunch, but they ultimately didn’t – as the show went on inside without incident, and for the tens of thousands that did get in, it was an amazing time!

SO much went on behind-the-scenes and on the stage, so I’ll start from the beginning at the Festival Stage.

(Video) Fetty Wap on Ebro In The Morning

Fetty Wap x Hot 97_LifeIsTremendez

Just before he takes the stage for his first-ever Summer Jam performance on Sunday (which is also his 24th birthday, by the way), Fetty Wap stopped by Hot 97 to chat with Ebro In The Morning this week.

During the interview, Fetty spoke on his newfound fame, the house he just bought , getting “fake” dreads and the flack he caught for it, who really is his “Trap Queen” and more.

On the faux dreads:

That NJ Ish: New Jersey Artists Currently Have The #1 and #2 Songs In The Entire Country

Fetty Wap x Charlie Puth

The last time two male hip-hop artists held down the top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 was 2009 with Flo’Rida and T.I. The last time a New Jersey artist held down the top spot was Lauryn Hill with “Doo-Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. The last time two New Jersey artists held down the top two spots? Never! (Okay, I don’t actually have that stat but it just went really well with what I had going on here. I don’t know if maybe Springsteen and Bon Jovi did it before, maybe Whitney…I don’t know. But just roll with me here.)

This week, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth‘s Furious 7 track “See You Again” ranks #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth week in a row, while Fetty Wap‘s “Trap Queen” has climbed up from #3 to its highest spot yet at #2. (Obviously Wiz is not from Jersey, but Charlie Puth is. Rumson, what up!)

That’s not all that we have going on right now, either! East Brunswick teen Jax just scored a Top 3 spot on American Idol, the furthest any state resident has ever advanced. We find out Tuesday whether she makes it to the top 2, and Wednesday if she will be crowned Jersey‘s first-ever “American Idol!”

That NJ Ish: Jersey Packs Out SOB’s Past Capacity For Hot 97’s Who’s Next Live, Prompting Rant From Naughty By Nature’s Treach

Marisa Mendez x Mike Zombie x NJ

New Jersey is really on the rise with talent across the board right now, from producers to rappers, singers, writers, DJs…the list goes on. Last night was set to be such a big night for all of the above, as Hot 97‘s monthly ‘Who’s Next Live’ showcase featured an all-Jersey lineup, headlined by “Trap Queen” rapper Fetty Wap, “Back Up On It” rapper Dougie F. and “Yeah, OK” rapper Kazzie.

Unfortunately, though some of the opening acts like Signature, DJ Frosty and Chad B. were able to perform, the venue was shut down after only an hour due to over-capacity issues and trouble at the door. It got so bad at one point, Fetty wasn’t even able to get in!

New Jersey legends Naughty By Nature were in the building to support, and upon the police calling the event off, Treach grabbed the microphone and ended up giving a 30-minute speech about unity, police brutality, Jersey being slighted and more. He kept it quite peaceful, however, and I do commend the venue and the police for allowing him to say what he had to say. It was a pretty powerful moment!

(Video) That NJ Ish: Fetty Wap Talks “Trap Queen,” Being In Love and More On Ebro In The Morning

Fetty Wap_LifeIsTremendez

Jersey, we have another burgeoning star on our hands! As our movement keeps growing with DJs (like Hot 97‘s newest additions, Drewski and DJ Naim,) media personalities (like myself, Karen Civil,) producers (Cardiak, Mike Zombie) and rappers on the come-up like Dougie F and Zombie (he fits here too,) we have another one to add to the list! Paterson native Fetty Wap is taking over the clubs in the Garden State with his breakout hit “Trap Queen,” and hopefully he’ll soon be taking over airwaves around the world with it as well. Now that he’s officially signed to Lyor Cohen, Todd Moskowitz and Kevin Liles300 label, anything can happen!

After Funk Flex premiered what he called the “biggest record in Jersey” on Monday night, Fetty Wap made his way over to Hot 97 to sit down with Ebro and Laura Stylez for Ebro In The A.M. yesterday morning.

The question on everyone’s mind is what happened to his eye, but unfortunately, he chose to remain mum on that for now. He says one day the story will come out, but for now, he likes the mystery and says that the fans seem to appreciate it as well. A quick scroll down his Instagram page shows that it happened in late February of this year, but that’s all we know!

Fetty did, however, reveal the very interesting process to “Trap Queen” coming to fruition, and admitted that he is in love with his girlfriend of a little under 3 years. Sorry ladies! Oh, and he just started music last year. What a start he’s off to, huh? Get the full 411 in the interview below!
